A Weekend in Limerick

A Family Break In Ireland

There’s only one thing that’s more precious than our time and that’s who we spend it on’

Since I launched this new website just over a month ago, things have been pretty busy!
Juggling mum-life and business isn’t always easy, so when the Radisson Blu Limerick kindly offered myself and the family a weekend away in their hotel, the timing couldn’t have been better.

At just over two hours from Dublin we headed off on a Friday afternoon and arrived just in time for Dinner.

FOOD:
We were all pretty hungry on arrival with the kids verging on ‘hangry’, so we opted to eat in the main restaurant which served dinner from a slightly earlier time. There was a good choice on the menu but Steve of course went for his usual choice- a fillet steak and I opted for a chicken dish. Both were really tasty, with plenty on the plate.

The kids asked for pizza and chips and again the portions was huge- a good complaint I know!
Breakfast each morning was good, with a hot buffet, menu service and lots of pastries.

ROOMS:
We had two inter-connecting family rooms that were really spacious. It was great that myself and Steve could watch TV and chill out while the girls slept in the room beside us.

The hotel staff left two little toiletry bags on the beds for the girls which made them feel very special indeed. There was a cot all set up for Robyn but the idea of sharing a bed for the first time with her big Sis was way more exciting! It could have gone either way, but thankfully they both slept really well!

ACTIVITIES:
To the front of the hotel, beside the carpark, there’s a little Fairy Garden and play area which is handy. It was bitterly cold so we didn’t stay too long, but a nice feature nonetheless!

The hotel organised a visit to Bunratty Castle and Folk Park which is just a few minutes drive away and we all really enjoyed that. There’s a lovely store & cafe on-site and the castle and folk park are well worth seeing. I really enjoy places like this where you can wander around old castles and dwellings, learning a little history. Of course the girls found it hard to get their heads around the idea that this is how people actually lived ‘in the olden days’!
There’s a good playground in the folk park which is always an added bonus. They were in the middle of setting up their Christmas Village and it was looking really festive. If you visit, make sure to keep an eye out for their two Irish Wolfhounds Maebh and Saoirse. They are gorgeous and so friendly!

After Bunratty we visited the hotel pool, which has designated children’s times. There’s a family changing room with baby changing facilities which is handy when you’ve a few excited children to contain!

The hotel is just 10 minutes outside Limerick City but as we needed to get back to Dublin early enough on the Sunday we didn’t get to venture in. It was back on the road for us accompanied by a million and one questions about all sorts, countless games of eye spy and a bag full of snacks to keep the peace!

I love Ireland and all it offers. We really live in a wonderful place and you can’t beat the ease of packing up the car and heading off on a little adventure. I can’t wait to do more of this with Steve and the girls in the years to come.

Family Rooms in the Radisson Blu Hotel & Spa Limerick start from €185.00 Bed & Breakfast based on 2 adults & 2 children sharing.

Our stay was gifted by the hotel and all opinions are my own.

Until next time x
